Embracing Memories: A Conversation with Rick D’Amico Webinar

If you’ve been in Arizona for a while, you might remember Rick D’Amico, a Fox 10 TV Morning News host for decades.  He retired at the height of popularity to care for his beloved wife, Ruth, full-time.

Rick and his wife had it all: notable careers, beautiful kids, and dreams of literally sailing off into the sunset during retirement. But when Ruth was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, everything crashed.

The effects of the disease created a complicated and lonely journey for Rick. Through it all, he chose to remember what Ruth ultimately would forget – that their love endures. After she took her last breath in 2022, he remains the keeper of their memories.

He offers an account or their life together, their hopes and dreams, and their plight with Alzheimer’s in a memoir: How Alzheimer’s Stole My Wife and Shattered Our Dreams. While he smiled for TV audiences under studio lights, behind the scenes, he was a struggling caregiver, just like anyone.
